Quaker Windows & Doors has recently been part of an ongoing historical renovation at James Mitchell School in Little Rock, Arkansas. James Mitchell School was founded as a small four room neighborhood school in 1908, designed by Little Rock architect Charles Thompson and was one of the first elementary schools in the city to be designed with integral bathrooms which were located in the basement.

Throughout the years, as the neighborhood grew, and the population changed, the school house continued to expand and reflect with the times. The first addition occurred 1910 when Charles Thompson was once again engaged to design a four room addition to the building. Later additions included a cafeteria and kitchen, and in 1952 a grand entrance portico that gives the building its Classical Revival look which it maintains to this day.

While the school was ultimately closed in 2005, developers purchased the building recently in hopes of creating a new Charter School in the neighborhood, bringing back to life the historical beauty of the building with Quaker’s H500 single hung and H500 picture windows.
