Built in 1977, Maunakea Tower provides affordablehousing to the city of Honolulu. A large renovationof the 32−story building began in 2023, withwindow replacement a huge part of the effort.Quaker’s E-Series windows checked all theboxes.
The building contains many different typesof windows: Casements, Project-Outs,Horizontal Sliders and Fixed.Quaker’sE-Series has all of those.
Casement windows met egress and ADArequirements.
Because most of the openings beingreplaced contained as many as 6 windowunits, either side-by-side or stacked – orboth in some cases — structural mullsystems were an absolute necessity toensure proper windload resistance, onevery floor.

Client was looking for an anodized DarkBronze finish. Quaker offered somethingeven better. A painted Dark Bronze witha 2604 finish that resembles anodized.Quaker’s “Resembles” colors offer 4distinct advantages over traditionalanodized: lesser cost, consistent colorappearance, shorter lead times, and alonger warranty.
All windows were palletized and loadedsmartly into shipping containers forefficient delivery between the mainlandand the Island of Oahu.
